Nevada Native Seed Partnership Awarded Grant for Habitat Restoration

In May 2024, the Nevada Native Seed Partnership was awarded $3.74 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL)/Burned Area Rehabilitation (BAR) funding to boost native seed collection, production, and use in Great Basin restoration.

This initiative aims to address the shortage of native seeds essential for ecosystem restoration. The funding will support seed collection, production, and the establishment of an equipment network for seed growers. This project is crucial for developing in-state resources to manage the entire restoration cycle, reducing reliance on surrounding states. By ensuring the availability of locally-adapted native seeds, the initiative will enhance post-fire restoration efforts and support the conservation of healthy, resilient ecosystems across the Great Basin.

I am so excited about this project, as it is going to create the resources in Nevada to tackle all parts of the restoration cycle
